A unique property near Wrexham needed a solution to prevent the aluminium window frames becoming hot to the touch in direct sunlight and penetrating rays making the interior of this south facing home uncomfortable. Whilst internal blinds provide shade, they do little prevent the heat buildup in the frames and glass of large windows radiating into rooms behind. However Installing shade to the exterior of the building offered a complete solution at the touch of a button.

Erhardt Folding & Drop Arm Awnings

Vertical screens would ordinarily be the go-to product to shade windows but would restrict opening when deployed. The solution was to install an Erhardt K cassette awning above the bifold doors, providing access, and drop arm awnings over the extended windows, allowing them to open. The location of the property also exposes it to the elements, so auto-sensors were also installed to retract the awnings in strong winds.
